About Cross Cottage, Haworth

In the 19th century the building was a public house known as the Cross Inn owned by J. & R.R. Thomas, local wine and spirit merchants who also owned the White Lion Hotel. At that time Haworth lay on the main trading route between Bradford and Colne, the steady demand from traffic leaving no shortage of public houses!

In addition to the Cross there was an ale house, now the fish and chip shop, the Black Bull, Kings Arms and White Lion. The inn was sold as separate lots, the main building was bought by Robert Snowden and established as a grocery shop, which remains today. Original plans can be seen in our lounge. In 1918, a separate shop was created (Mary Firth’s) and we continue to trade today as Firth’s of Haworth; renowned for our friendliness and outstanding service.

It’s these same qualities that we have brought to Cross Cottage, a comfortable home from home, with all the traditional charm and modern conveniences that one should expect:

Please note that Cross Cottage is strictly non-smoking and that we welcome assistance dogs.
